My Personal Story
Updated: Jun 16, 2021
My story does not begin when I first experienced domestic violence. It was a string of events and people that I encountered during my childhood that influenced me into believing that I was weak and did not possess the power to change my situation.
But, I will start my story when I entered the relationship with my abuser. I was a minor and he was an adult.
He did have a way with words. He was not charming by any means but the way he "put everything into perspective" for the people around him is what made him dangerous. Do you experience this? If so, please read on.
During our second date, he date raped me. By the fourth encounter he started hitting and pushing me. He would force me to do unspeakable acts that I did not want to do. He would tell me it was my fault for making him treat me badly. I told him that I did not love him and I tried to break away.
There is so much more to share...but for now, let's discuss if you have been forced to do things you do NOT want to do. Have you been forced to have sex, told what to wear and/or who you are allowed to speak to? Does your abuser tell you it is your fault for making them angry or hurt because you do not make them feel loved? These are only a few ways to control you.
In the next post I will discuss The Cycle and help YOU break it!
I am here to tell you that YOU do have the power and in the following posts, I will share with you how to empower yourself and move forward to live the life of your dreams!
